After NES you'd think SNES wouldve easily trumped the MD/Genesis. Sega does what Nintendon't is the best slogan ever though lol

Gotta hand it to Sega, will play Sonic sometime next week to celebrate

Happy Birthday!

Nice. I saw some Sega Genesis (newly-made, not refurbished or used) on sale at Bed Bath & beyond a few years back. I guess that retro gaming is becoming more popular these days.

It’s finally time to celebrate the milestone 25th anniversary of the launch of SEGA’s most successful console, the SEGA Genesis.
System launches were quite a bit different in 1989 than they are now, so details of the event are a little sketchy. What we do know is that the Genesis launched in both the New York and Los Angeles markets on or about Aug. 14, 1989, where the very first of approximately 40 million consoles would be sold in the United States. The full launch across all US markets would come a month later on Sept. 15.

Interesting history. I never really followed console releases until last gen (PS3 and X-Box 360).
